City of Edmonton 2015-10-01 Capture results of mosquitoes from various locations in Edmonton. These collections are from standard New Jersey light traps that are commonly used to record changes in abundance of mosquitoes before and after control campaigns and to compare seasonal and annual fluctuations in population. Since not all mosquito species are attracted equally to light traps, the City uses a variety of other trapping and survey methods (with their own limitations) to monitor mosquitoes. Not all trap collection sites are factored into the historical averages. Some data can be incomplete due to trap failure. Some trap locations change over time. Trap collections reflect, not absolute population levels, but mosquito activity, which is influenced by changing environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, wind, etc.). The weekly averages do not include any male mosquitoes or any females of species that do not typically bite people. Each data set reflects the mosquito activity of the week previous to the collection date. To complement this dataset, there is the Rainfall Guage data which measures rainfall data in the Greater Edmonton area - https://data.edmonton.ca/Environmental-Services/Rainfall-Gauge-Results/7fus-qa4r/edit_metadata

Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs
Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs This polygon dataset displays counties in Ontario based on the number of apple growers that participate in the National Apple Scab Resistance Testing Project. The polygons are ranked based on the number of participating growers in the county. Official LIO title: Apple Scab Cooperators This dataset is no longer collected or maintained. Information and data held by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs for this record is historical.

Higham, Lisa Several new and existing components and techniques are used to achieve two new results. - A obstruction-free implementation of test&set from O(log n) registers, thus establishing that the existing lower bound is asymptotically tight. - A randomized wait-free implementation of test and set from O(log n) registers and having O(log*n) solo step complexity under the oblivious adversary. I will describe these techniques, present details of 3 of them, and show how they are combined to provide these two algorithms. Wilson, David; Lamarre, Jessika 2021-11-13 <p>String-pulling is amongst the most widespread cognitive tasks used to test problem-solving skills in mammals and birds. The task requires animals to comprehend that pulling on a non-valuable string moves an otherwise inaccessible food reward to within their reach. Although at least 90 avian species have been administered the string-pull test, all but five of them were perching birds (passeriformes) or parrots (psittaciformes). Waterbirds (Aequorlitornithes) are poorly represented in the cognitive literature, yet are known to engage in complex foraging behaviours. In this study, we tested whether free-living ring-billed gulls (<i>Larus delawarensis</i>), a species known for their behavioural flexibility and foraging innovativeness, could solve a horizontal string-pull test. Here, we show that 25% (26/104) of the ring-billed gulls that attempted to solve the test at least once over a maximum of three trials were successful, and that 21% of them (22/104) succeeded during their first attempt. Ring-billed gulls are thus the first waterbird known to solve a horizontal single-string-rewarded string-pull test. Since innovation rate and problem-solving are associated with species’ ability to endure environmental alterations, we suggest that testing the problem-solving skills of other species facing environmental challenges will inform us of their vulnerability in a rapidly changing world.</p> https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/
